Auf wiedersehen

After I finished university in October 2019 with a BSc in Economics, I decided to spend three and a half months in Edinburgh. My intention was to improve my English and to gain some work experience in a different company.

Edinburgh is a fantastic city with a unique Old Town and pub culture. I met many nice people and enjoyed my time here a lot. Especially Hogmanay – New Year’s Eve – was an amazing experience. In addition, Scotland has a beautiful landscape which I just loved to discover, as well as many beautiful castles and villages along the coast.

The first six weeks at the British Study Centre were very useful to brush up and extend my existing English language skills. After that, my internship at Integrity International Events started. Of course, I was very nervous on my first day, but excited at the same time. It turned out very quickly that there was no reason to be nervous. Everyone was nice and friendly, and the whole working atmosphere was very pleasant.

My tasks were to support my colleagues in different processes like fellowship applications and managing email inboxes and enquiries. Furthermore, I had the chance to get some interesting insight in the whole event management process, including venue and accommodation research, travel feasibility studies for specific projects and, finally, travel booking.

To sum up, it was a great and interesting experience for me to work in this company and I really appreciated my time there.
